Chief Engineer:

Charles R. Rushmer, P.E.

Chuck received his engineering degree from the University of Washington and has held his professional engineering license in the State of Washington since 1974. He has been with Northwest Inspection Engineers since 1974 and has served as its chief engineer since 1995.

Chuck retired from doing inspections in the spring of 2000, and now concentrates his talents on teaching. He is responsible for the training of new engineers added to the NIE inspection staff, as well as traveling the country teaching the widely acclaimed course for real estate professionals, "The Technical Inspection of Real Estate," presented by The Beckman Company.

Inspecting Engineers:

Jack A. Swardz, P.E.

Jack is a Civil Engineer with an engineering history that started in 1963. He graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Construction Management in 1973. He has been licensed as a professional engineer in the State of Washington since 1982.

Over the years, Jack has worked for both engineering firms and contractors. His early career included projects that involved bridge construction, power generation, waste water treatment, transportation, and defense. Jack has been employed by Northwest Inspection Engineers as an inspecting engineer since January, 1989. Since joining NIE, he has inspected thousands of residential and commercial buildings throughout the greater Puget Sound area.

Larry E. Steward, P.E.

Larry has worked in engineering endeavors in both Alaska and Washington. He has been licensed as a professional Civil Engineer in Washington, since 1969. In addition to his engineering experience, Larry spent a number of years as a full-time remodeling contractor and has also constructed three homes.

For the past several years, Larry has had his own consulting engineering firm (Larry E. Steward, P.E. and Associates), concentrating on drainage and septic system designs for residential and commercial properties in the Puget Sound area. Larry joined the inspecting staff at Northwest Inspection Engineers in May, 2000.

Business Manager:

Stephen R. Pomeroy

Steve graduated from the University of Arizona and began a teaching career in 1968. He moved to the Seattle area and began working for Northwest Inspection Engineers in 1978. He received his M.B.A. degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1982, and has served as business manager for NIE since that time.
